Is CBD oil Legal

Is CBD oil legal in the UK?

Firstly, what exactly is CBD you may be wondering. CBD is short for cannabidiol, it is the second most common active ingredient in marijuana. The CBD that is sold across the world doesn’t actually come from the marijuana plant but from its cousin the hemp plant. In order to extract the CBD into an oil form several stages must first be done. Firstly, the Hemp crop is harvested and the crop must then be cured in a ventilated area, the curing process takes approximately 1 month depending on the strain of hemp used. The flowers and buds of the crop have the highest concentration of cannabinoids (any group of compounds which are closely related in the cannabis plant). The cannabinoids are then extracted from the flowers and buds by a variety of different methods. After the extraction the CBD oil must be separated from all of the other various chemical compounds found in cannabinoid mixture. Now the legality of the CBD oil depends on the extraction process used. CBD isolate is created when the oil is at least 99% CBD oil whereas CBD distillate is where the concentration is between 50-70% CBD and the rest is other natural cannabinoid compounds found in the hemp plant.

Is CBD oil legal in the UK? In the UK the CBD oil law says that there is a strict criterion to be lawfully available for human use. The main criteria is that there must not be any more than 0.2% of THC in the product. THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol and is the main active psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana. The human body has 2 main cannabinoid receptors that control appetite, pain-sensation, memory and mood. THC binds to these receptors to cause the ‘High’ associated with marijuana. Whereas CBD does not cause the ‘high’. The main rules are that CBD is completely legal in the United Kingdom so long as that it has been derived from an industrial hemp strain that is EU approved and that it has only trace amount (<0.2%) or no amounts of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). At Azora we only use legally produced CBD isolate in our products.

Benefits of CBD oil include relieving pain from arthritis, help with diabetes and reduced anxiety & insomnia when ingested. These benefits have made the world question the legality of CBD which is now widely approved in many countries now. Applying CBD to the skin causes CBD to be absorbed which helps with skin acne, hyperpigmentation and reduces wrinkles to mention a few things. Using our skin care range can increase your skins CBD uptake and provide you with the benefits of CBD.
